The Good Samaritan is a food pantry serving the community of Walden in the 12586 zip code.  Emergency food is available 4 days a week.  We are located at 12 Scofield Street, convenient for individuals who do not have access to transportation.  We are open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, providing ample opportunity for those who need it.

The ministry of the Good Samaritan requires faithful volunteers who become Jesus' hands an feet in compassionate contact with many people.  We are blessed with more than 25 faithful volunteers who wait on people, pick up, package, and order food.

We distribute something called a "manna bag".  Each manna bag contains nutritious food (as established by the guidelines of the Food Bank of Northeastern New York).  Families with 1-2 people receive one manna bag.  Families of 3-4 people receive 2 manna bag, 5-6 people receive 3 manna bags, 7-8 people receive 4 manna bags, and families with more than 8 people receive 5 bags.  In addition to the prepared bag, every family receives juice, cereal, meat, dessert, and bread as well as vegetables, cheese, and eggs.  We also distribute turkeys to seniors at our local senior housing facility.
